As a movie buff, summer is a cause of celebration for me. Every Friday, there’s an exciting movie (or at the very least, the trailers are very impressive) out and along with it, exciting fashion by the star cast. One hairstyle that I absolutely loved was Zoe Saldana’s chic updo during the Berlin photocall for Star Trek: Into Darkness. The style made her look more like a romantic heroine than a space cadet, though the outfit was out of this world (I just couldn’t resist that one!). It’s elegant for a fancy event, yet simple enough for any day!
- Create a deep side part; spritz the hair with hairspray to build some texture; gently brush the hair back.
- Start twisting the hair at the crown on the longer side of the part and pin the twists with medium (or large/small depending on your hair thickness) hair pins to secure the hair; continue to the end of the side. Do the same thing on the shorter side, but not as exaggerated (that is, they shouldn’t be as poufy).
- Secure hair from both sides behind the ear of the shorter side, and twist the hair onto itself to create a horizontal French bun (or just twist it into a simple side bun); pin until you feel it’s secure in its place.
- Add a jeweled hair accessory to complete the glamorous updo.
