Rajidesigns Royal by Sabyasachi-1It’s rare that I find a look so compelling that I learn to recreate on myself.  When I saw this look done by Lakmé for Sabyasachi’s Fall 2013 collection, I couldn’t take my eyes off of it.  Generally, we’re told to stay away from doing bold eyes and lips (in most cases, rightfully so!) at the same time, but this look does exactly that to absolute perfection. The secret is to keep the rest of your face “clean” (i.e. no rosy blush).  Hope you love it too!Rajidesigns Royal by Sabyasachi-2

  1. Prep the skin with a moisturizer. Use a primer to control the oil (and to skip powder to keep the look fresh at the end).
  2. Conceal any shadows (under eyes, around mouth, any blemish, dark spot) with M.A.C. Pro Conceal & Correct.
  3. Use foundation only in the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) area to give the look a natural finish.  However, if you feel you need a little bit more, apply it with a light hand.
  4. Use a contouring powder (such as this one by Nars) to give the cheeks depth. Use this in place of blush. Use it lightly (dip the brush in powder and shake off the excess) so that it gives depth but doesn’t look too obvious. Also swipe it lightly around the temples (from the cheeks to smooth it out), across the middle of your forehead, down the center of your nose, on your chin, around your jawline, and blend it down to your neck (without going back to the powder pot to do the neck).
  5. Fill eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil. See this tutorial on how to fill them.
  6. On eyelids, use a peachy-brown (such as this Bobbi Brown in “uber beige”) cream color base.
  7. Next, use a liquid eyeliner to create a thin line from inner corner to the outer corner of the upper lash line. To get the exact look as above, create one line that extends in line with (almost a straight line) the outer corner of the eye and a second line that extends upwards (from almost the end of the upper lash line) towards the eyebrows. This creates the “fish eye” effect.
  8. Apply liquid eyeliner to the bottom lash (water) line.
  9. Add a gold highlight with a glitter eyeliner (such as this one by Stila) right below the bottom lash line and between the “fish eye” lines.
  10. Complete the look by using a red lipstick (such as this YSL in “Cranberry Red”) with a lip brush. Do a double application to create a lasting look: first, put on lipstick with a brush, then blot off the excess with a tissue; second, put on lipstick with a lipstick again using a brush. Phew! Done.
